Skin Care for Your Elbows and Knees

Warm weather welcomes us to wear cool, cotton t-shirts and crisp, comfortable shorts that display our elbows and knees. Are they both embarrassingly dingy and dry?

Because our elbows and knees do not have oil glands, the skin in these areas gets dry quickly. Add to that kneeling in the garden, or resting our elbows to write, and it's obvious they take a beating. Because of these factors, the skin on your elbows and knees can appear dark and ashy. Cells and dirt build up in an oil-free area making them look unattractive.

If your elbows and knees need improvement, consider the following solutions:
  • use a pumice stone to slough off dead skin cells;
  • cut a lemon or lime in half and put each half on your elbows to lighten the dark color;
  • rub olive oil or coconut oil on your elbows and knees to relieve the dryness;
  • put a moisturizing lotion or cream on your elbows and knees and then wrap them with plastic wrap for twenty minutes - when you remove the plastic, they will be softer.
With a little extra attention, your elbows and knees will look their best in your warm weather wardrobe.
